Client Needs

Pink Piggy's previous website was a simple landing page that directed visitors to their online ordering menu and included a tab with their downloadable .pdf menu. However, it lacked critical elements to engage users and tell the story of the restaurant. The website had no photos, preventing visitors from seeing visuals of the food and drinks they could order. There was no information about the business, the passion behind its creation, or its commitment to providing high-quality fusion and traditional dishes. Owner Echo Shao, who opened Pink Piggy in 2022, is passionate about her food, which features recipes from her mother and friends from around the world. The restaurant offers innovative fusion dishes, traditional recipes, and healthy, student-friendly lunch options for East Grand Rapids school kids. Their boba tea, made with real fruit and free from artificial syrups, is (in our humble opinion) the best there is in West Michigan. To better serve their community and share their story, Pink Piggy needed not only a website redesign but also professional photos of their menu items, including seasonal dishes and specials, to showcase their menu and connect more deeply with their customers.

The Yellow Umbrella’s Impact

To address Pink Piggy’s needs, Yellow Umbrella Creative collaborated with Mark Alan Howe Photography (Hi, Dad!👋) for a professional photo shoot, showcasing every dish and drink on the menu. Echo and her kitchen team prepared each menu item, allowing us to create a visual library of photos that captures the restaurant’s fusion dishes and colorful boba teas. After the shoot, we fostered connection over Pink Piggy’s entire menu (yes, we took a ton of food home and yes, we ate all the leftovers).

Services Used

The photos served as the foundation for the website redesign, allowing Yellow Umbrella to create an aesthetically appealing and user-friendly site. The updated website features a visual menu page, a polished home page, a contact page, and an events page for future use. A key focus was designing a scrollable mobile menu optimized for quick navigation, enabling users to easily find menu sections, prices, descriptions, sizes, and photos of many items. This visual, mouthwatering menu makes it easy for visitors to explore and engage with Pink Piggy’s food and drinks. Beyond digital, Yellow Umbrella Creative supported Pink Piggy with additional branding and marketing materials, including an updated printable menu, flyers, postcards, posters, an outdoor standing sign, and more. These graphic projects further enhanced Pink Piggy’s visual identity and outreach efforts, aligning with their mission to connect with the East Grand Rapids community through food and great service.
