Building Western New York is a bi-annual magazine published by the Construction Exchange of Buffalo and Western New York (ConEx Buffalo). The publication showcases major construction projects, industry trends, and stories that matter to professionals and community members across the Buffalo and Western New York region. Alongside editorial content, the magazine serves as a comprehensive member directory, listing every Construction Exchange member with their up-to-date contact information. As the publication continued to grow, ConEx needed a fresh, cohesive design that would elevate the reading experience, better reflect the scale and professionalism of the local construction industry, and engage both print and digital audiences.

When the Construction Exchange reached out to Yellow Umbrella Creative, they were seeking a complete redesign of their 100-page publication and member directory compared to the previous editions. The Spring/Summer 2025 Edition featured Highmark Stadium on the cover, along with multiple large-scale regional development stories and in-depth coverage of the companies shaping Western New York’s built environment. Every member listing was updated and formatted for clarity, ensuring the directory was both comprehensive and easy to reference. The final product included a polished print edition for distribution to members and partners, as well as a fully accessible digital edition designed for convenient browsing on any device.

Yellow Umbrella Creative provided a complete publication redesign, layout design and formatting, visual asset coordination, print production support, and creation of a digital flipbook edition of the magazine. The project included content organization, typography updates, and consistent styling throughout all editorial features and member listings. The result was a modern, professional magazine that elevates the Construction Exchange’s brand and provides members with a valuable resource they can reference year-round.
